Dear Friends,

After the new members took charges of the Board, which appears to remain stable for next few months, we took appointments with the Chairman, the Member (P&V) and the J.S.(Admn) on 19.11.2009 and 20.11.2009 to discuss on the following issues:-

1. Problem of acute stagnation in the cadre of Superintendent and bring out a lasting as well as an immediate solution to it.

2. Regularize all ad hoc Asst/Deputy/Joint Commissioners and bring an end to the ad hoc promotions.

3. Release of the 114 backlog vacancies to the Supdts of Customs.

4. Superintendents having service of 5 years or less may be posted within the Zone on promotion as Asst. Commissioner.

5. Preparation of All India Seniority List of the Supdts of Customs.

6. Increase of the Uniform Allowance, Rummaging Allowance and Airport Diet Allowance.

We had satisfactory meetings with all the said three senior officials.

We also had meeting with our advocate on 19.11.2009 in New Delhi. It is brought to your knowledge that our case before the Hon’ble Supreme Court has already been listed in the Terminal List of 2008-09 and it is expected to come up for final hearing shortly.

We expect that we are not far away to find some positive changes in our service prospects as an outcome of the said meetings. Some of the letters, which were submitted to the Chairman/Member (P&V) in the meeting are being uploaded on our website.
