Sub: Cadre Specific Allowances - reg.

Respected Sir,

1. Rummaging Allowance:

We perform rummaging duty on the ship and also in the Aircraft and we have since long been granted the Rummaging Allowance, which is Rs. 500/- per month at present. Considering the increased hazardous nature of the job, the Rummaging Allowance may be granted at Rs. 2000/- per month for all the Superintendents of Customs, who are engaged in R&I duties.

It is also brought to your kind notice that in the Mumbai Custom House only few of the fortunate Superintendents in R&I Division get the Rummaging Allowance creating an unlawful discrimination among the similarly placed Superintendents.

It is requested that all the Superintendents working in the R&I Division may be granted Rummaging Allowance.

2. Airport Diet allowance:

In order to meet the extraordinary expenses at the Airports, we were granted the Airport Diet Allowance long ago by the Ministry. Initially, it was Rs. 60.00 per month and subsequently it was revised to Rs. 200/- per month.

The last revision was done before more than ten years and in the present scenario, Airports having been privatized, the food price has gone beyond the roof. The net increase in the food prices at Airports has gone more than 2000%. As a result, the present Diet Allowance of Rs. 200/- per month is unrealistic in the present circumstances.

In view of the above, it is requested that the Airport Diet Allowance must kindly be increased to Rs. 3200/- per month.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

(ANUPAM MAJUMDAR)
