Sub: Uniform Allowance - recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission- reg.

Respected Sir,

The Sixth Central Pay Commission in their report at para 4.2.75 has recognized the problem of maintaining the white uniform during sea duties and has recommended the Uniform Allowance of Rs. 16,000/- as Initial Grant and Rs. 5000/- as Renewal Grant for the Coast Guard.

We also wear the white uniform, perform duties in white uniform and undertake sea patrolling in similar exercise as of the Coast Guard.

We understand that the Customs Officers and the Coast Guard Officers enforce different sets of laws and have different call of duty but both face similar problem in maintaining their white uniform. Thus, it is logical and justified to have similar grants as Uniform Allowance since both of us are subjected to the Indian market rates of goods.

In view of the above, it is earnestly requested that we may also be given the amount of Uniform Allowance similar to that of Coast Guard as mentioned above.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

(ANUPAM MAJUMDAR)
